State Of Autonomy: February Recap
Every month, I recap the news articles I’ve consumed around autonomous vehicles, calling out the highlights and keeping track of market progress. This is also your chance to nominate a topic for discussion next month.
We’ve got a fresh batch of vehicle disengagement reports from companies testing their AVs on California public roads, which means everyone and their mama is again scrambling to project a winner in the self-driving car “race.”
Just to make sure y’all stay up on your definitions, a disengagement is a deactivation of autonomous mode when failure of the autonomous technology is detected or when the safe operation of the vehicle requires that the autonomous vehicle test driver take control, and a disengagement report is a highly misleading statistical analysis of a company’s progress. If you don’t know, now you know.
In other news… so much money is being thrown around in this space right now. You want some money? Here you go. Money for everyone.
